Andraya A. Hitchner, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC: Joining NWWC May 1, 2020
As a Board-Certified Nurse Midwife, and a women’s health Nurse Practitioner, Andraya Hitchner, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC, not only provides expert care for women during pregnancy, but also offers comprehensive women’s health care for patients from puberty through menopause at Northwest Women’s Clinic. This includes well woman exams, infertility counceling, birth control counseling, menopause care, and more. Andraya helps her patients become their own best advocate through education and expert guidance; therefore, improving their health with compassionate, individualized care.
Andraya earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Humbolt State University in Arcata, California, and continued on to practice as a labor and delivery nurse for seven years. Meanwhile, she completed a Certified Professional Midwifery apprenticeship at Wise Women Care Associates in Grants Pass, Oregon, after which she provided complete pregnancy care for women seeking birth at home and/or in a birth center.
After realizing the importance of the Art of Midwifery and the positive experience it provides for moms, babies, and families, Andraya became a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing education at Georgetown University’s graduate program in Washington, DC in 2018. Now, her approach to pregnancy care emphasizes bringing the gentle patient-led experience of home and birth center care into the hospital birth environment- joining the best of both worlds. Whether a mother needs basic or complex care, no matter her personal preferences for labor and birth, Andraya is there to serve women and their families every step of the way.
